Trafalgar Sguare is the central square of the city. It is the natural center of London and the best starting point for a tour of the capital.

Трафальгарская площадь – центральная площадь города. Это естественный центр Лондона и лучшая точка отсчёта для осмотра столицы.

The Square was named so in memory of the admiral Nelsons victory at the battle of Trafalgar in There is the monument in the center, known as Nelsons Column. The figure of the great admiral is on top. The statue of Nelson is 16 feet hight. There are the lions at the foot of the column and the large platform which is used by the orators.

Площадь была названа так в знак победы Нэльсона в битве при Трафальгаре в 1805 году. В центре стоит памятник известный как колонна адмиралу Нэльсону. Фигура великого адмирала на верху статуя Нэльсона 16 футов в высоту. У подножья колонны – львы и большая платформа, которая используется ораторами.

Th e square is the place for all sorts of meetings and demonstrations. When the square is not used for demonstrations, it is full of tourists, visitors feeding the pigeons or people watching the traffic.

On the north side of the Square are the Natioinal Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. The National Gallery has an outstanding collection of paintings from British, Italian, Spanish, French, Dutch and other famous schools.

На северной стороне площади находится Национальная Галерея и Национальная Портретная Галерея. Национальная Галерея имеет выдающиеся коллекции картин из Британии, Италии, Испании, Франции, Голандии и других известных школ.

Every year there is a very big Christmas tree in the centre of London in Trafalgar Sguare. This is a present from the people of Norway to the people of Great Britain.They send it to Londoners every year.

Каждый год большую Рождественскую ёлку привозят в центр Лондона на Трафальгальскую площадь. Это подарок людей Норвегии людям Британии. Они отправляют лондонцам ёлку каждый год.

The English are proud of their Trafalgar Square,the famous people and their history.
