Your teacher has asked you to write an essay giving your opinion on the following: Violent sports such as boxing should be banned. Write your essay ( words)

Discuss these questions. 1.Who are you writing for?(your teacher, a magazine, some organization, peers) 2.Why are you writing? ( to inform, to explain, to give your opinion, etc.) 3.What type of the text are you writing? (an essay, a letter, an article, a story) 4.What language is better for your text? ( formal, informal)

Write down every idea that is mentioned. Do not criticize any of them – the more ideas, the better. my opinion an opposing opinion

Cross out the ideas that do not seem workable. Leave 3 or 4 ideas you feel you can develop further.

Distribute the ideas among your group and develop your idea into a short paragraph. Write each paragraph on a separate piece of paper.

Read aloud each paragraph and discuss them. Decide on the order of the paragraph and arrange them on the desk in this order.

Make the text whole, adding introduction, conclusion and links between paragraphs with the help of linking words. See Language Support. Check your composition and correct mistakes.

Choose a person to write for the group. Help him/her to make the necessary additions and changes in the text.

8.Evaluate other texts Display your work in the class and read them. Choose the best composition.
