Action Movies Action movies usually have lots of explosions, car chases and guns. Usually they are about a good guy who fights against bad guys. They are exciting, entertaining and fun to watch.

Adventure Films Adventure films are like action films, but they are usually set in strange and exotic places. They can be set in jungles, deserts or even in the ocean. Usually in adventure films a person must fight against nature and bad guys to find treasure and rescue the girl.

Comedy Films Comedies are funny. They make us laugh. They can be about anything and be any genre. In comedies there is always one serious person (the straight man) and one strange/crazy/funny person.

Crime & Gangster Movies Crime and Gangster movies are about criminals. In these movies we watch bad people do bad things. In these movies we always want the bad guy (villain) to win.

Dramas Dramas are serious movies. They are about people and their problems. Many dramas are love stories. Dramas can be very sad. Many dramas have happy endings which make us feel good.

Epic/Historical Films Epic and Historical films are about the past. They usually are about a famous story from history. Historical films have fancy costumes and sets to make the movie look realistic.

Horror Films Horror movies are terrifying. They are about monsters, murderers and ghosts. They give us nightmares. After watching a scary movie it is hard to fall asleep at night

Musicals/Dance Films Musicals are usually dramas that have music. In musicals, the characters sing songs and dance to show their emotions. Many of these movies are based on plays.

Science Fiction Films Science Fiction films are about space and the future. Many of these movies are set on spaceships or other planets. Many include aliens.

War Films War films are about wars. They can be about real wars or fake wars. Usually they are about a single soldier who does not want to fight but must for his country. Many war films are about real soldiers doing brave things.

Westerns Westerns are a genre of movie that exists mostly in the USA. It is about America when people were first moving to the west coast. These movies usually have cowboys and indians.

Animated Movies Animated movies are long cartoons. The most famous ones are made by Disney. Modern animated movies are made by computers and the newest ones are in 3D.

He moves into an empty hotel for the winter to write a novel. He is supposed to live there with his wife and son and take care of the hotel. While he is there he begins seeing ghosts who convince him to kill his family. RI watch The Shining every Halloween with my friends. I think it is the scariest movie ever made.
