The idea of the new way of the communication was developed in the middle of the 19 th century by the French engineer S. Bursel, but he couldnt realize his project.

The first telephones were built by A. Meutchi in the USA and by the German physicist Reis. The Reis telephone had a battery as a power supply.

The telephone was patented by A. Bell in The telephone was called the talking telegraph. Bell showed his telephone on the first electrotechycal demonstration in Philadelphia. The telephone was later improved by Watson.

In 1878 Russian Scientist Golubitsky upgraded the telephone and created his own telephone with original construction. In T. Edison invented the coal microphone with coal powder.

In 1898 the telephone line Moscow- Petersburg appeared. It was the longest telephone line in Europe.
