The question about should children wear a uniform to school always makes debate. In countries like UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Hon Kong, Japan, South Africa and many others African countries, wear school uniform is normal. In other countries, particularly in Europe, the USA and Canada, uniform is very rare in state-funded schools, although private schools may have one. chools often give them a warning the first time that this happens but then will punish them if they continue. To their happiness, senior students don't have to wear their school uniform. School uniform usually means a white blouse with a dark colored skirt and pullover for girls and white shirt and tie, dark trousers and dark colored pullovers for boys. Pupils also wear blazers- a kind of jacket, with the school badge on the pocket. They often have to wear some kind of hat on the way to and from school- caps for boys and berets for girls. Shoes are usually black or brown. And no high heels. But exactly hats and shoes they dont like, so they usually dont wear them and than schools often give them a warning the first time that this happens but then will punish them if they continue. ConsPros Goes against our rights.Schools with uniforms show better educational results, because there is better discipline, so it makes learning easier. Not practical or pleasant to wear. Often designs are old-fashioned. It makes all the children equal no matter what their family background or income. Makes emphasis on mental qualities, but not on material. Can contradict pupils religious or cultural needs. Usually uniforms is cheaper than letting children choose what they want wear to school. Its not good preparation for working. Only a few jobs require uniforms and many of these are low-paid service jobs. Helps to prepare students for work, where uniforms are often worn. Arguments

«Delighter» schoolgirl wins battle to wear trousers In USA until the early to mid 1970s, the uniform for girls almost always consisted of a skirt and jumper. But one day, one girl has won her battle to wear throusers at school. Jo Hale is 14 years old and she is a pupil at Whickham Secondary School in the nort-east of England. Jo wearss trousers at primary school, but she wasnt allowed to wear them when she went to Whickham. Jo was disappointed because she was cold in a skirt in the winter, but the school didnt change rules. Than Jo said, «If you are in class doing your work, what difference does it make if you are wearing trousers?». Jos mother, Claire, is a professor at the University of Leeds. She contacted the school because, in her options, the rules werent fair. «The famale teachers can wear trousers but the students cant, throusers are more practical form dress. They are warmer in winter and cheaper to wear than a skirt». A lot of people support them and director change the rules.
