Children with Down syndrome in Russia Each year, about 2,500 children with Down syndrome are born in Russia In Russia 85% of parents reject their little ones born with Down syndrome because they have a deep misunderstanding about Down syndrome and think that these children are unable to develop In Russia there no are no governmental early intervention services for children with Down syndrome and their families

Charity sports Downside Up Charitable Fund We support families raising children with Down syndrome from 0 to 7 years old Our programmes: Home visiting service; individual and group learning sessions; pre-school preparation sessions; psychological support for parents; individual speech therapy consultations and cognitive, motor, social skills and emotional development sessions We support 1929 families from Moscow and 80 Russian regions and CIS countries All Moscow children who participate in our programmes are admitted to pre- schools In 13 years of Downside Up operation the abandonment rate of children with Down syndrome in Moscow decreased 50% Our specialists publish and disseminate free methodical literature and provide training programmes for educators from state organisations All Downside Up programmes and services are free!
