40 G3 Advanced Use Model FAQs Combo Controller Questions: –Can I share a LUN across both FC and iSCSI hosts? A: LUNs can be mapped to either FC or iSCSI hosts – but are not allowed to be shared to both at the same time. –Can I mix one Combo controller and one FC controller in the same array? A: Within a dual-controller array homogenous controller types are required. (2 FC controllers or 2 combo controllers.) –Can I replicate snapshots from a Combo controller to/from a FC controller? A: Will be supported by mid-March timeframe. Remote Snap Questions: –How do you deal with first time large data replication? –A: You can do a Local Replication onto disks in the source system. Then do Physical Media Transfer to the destination system then create a Replication Set from the Wizard. –How does Snap Replication differ from EVA Continuous Access (Synchronous or Asynchronous) Replication? A: CA has synchronous and asynchronous write replication for each I/O written to the array. Remote Snap does not impace the host I/O path. It is replicating snapshots of a volume to the destination.

41 G3 Advanced Use Model FAQs Remote Snap Questions: –Can I do both FC replication and IP-based WAN replication? A: Yes. Both models are supported. Replication Set can be designated to use the FC or the iSCSI ports in a Combo controller. For a FC controller, replication is supported over the FC ports. –How does Array Controller handle it when Replications build up over time? A: The Replication schedules are queued in a FIFO manner. –When will Many to One and Many to Many scenarios be supported? A: These scenarios will be supported in a late 2010 FW update for the G3 arrays –How many Volumes can I replicate? A: 16 per array. This will be increased in late 2010 FW updates. –How do I replicate an application-consistent Snapshot? A: You can setup the Replication Schedule to use the latest existing snapshot for the volume. This can be coordinated with VSS-based snaps from a host so that the Snap created by VSS is replicated by Replication schedule. –Can I use a Single Controller array for Remote Snap? This will be supported by Mid-March;
