I wish to congratulate Ivanovo State University with 10 years of international summer schools in lexicography, with special regards to its organiser and primus motor, prof. Olga Karpova. I had the pleasure to attend the third summer school in 1999, giving three lectures about different topics in modern lexicography. The summer school was given in a good atmosphere and several skilful russian and international lexicographers and students contributed to a successful week. The Summer School in Ivanovo is important to the development of modern russian lexicography. It is my opinion, that Ivanovo State University and prof. Karpova through this summer school has developed a lexicographic specialist environment to the benefit of the whole russian linguistic society. I was impressed by the quality of their work and the wide range of lexical topics presented by the students who attended the school in 1999, and I wish you all a prosperous and interesting summer school in lexicography in 2005!
