Задачи: Рассмотреть существующие подходы к лингвистическому описанию повтора компаративов; Описать функционально-семантические поля компаративности и аспектуальности и конституирующие их элементы; Рассмотреть основные категориальные признаки прилагательных и наречий в английском языке; Рассмотреть основные аспектуальные значения в английском языке;

It [head] was shrinking very fast, growing balder and balder… The sun in the west was a drop of burning gold that slid nearer and nearer the sill of the world.

The high-pitched laughter was growing louder and louder, and a voice spoke inside his head… She stared at it as it flew faster and faster in a mad frenzy.

Her voice grew fainter and fainter until they could no longer hear it over the trampling of hooves surrounding them.

Her limbs were becoming more and more stiff and painful. Lower and lower they flew, until Harry could see individual headlights and streetlamps, chimneys, and television aerials. Yeah, said Ron, who had become quieter and quieter all the way down to the pitch.

I sometimes feel that there is a great threat growing bigger and bigger every day. The sounds of the galloping centaurs and the blundering giant were growing fainter and fainter. He grew more and more ill until he died.

Now his mind was working in wider and wider circles. He began to pound the mouth below him, using his clenched fist as a hammer; he hit with more and more passionate hysteria as the face became slippery.

It [elevator] jangled and banged lower and lower; the grilles slid open and Harry dashed inside, now hammering the button marked Atrium. But I was coming nearer and nearer to a climax. But the fire merely crackled lower and lower, until the red-hot embers crumbled into ash and, looking around, Harry saw they were, yet again, the last in the common room.
