Our Goal Our goal, as educators and parents is to teach our children math skills, and to instill, if not the love, at least an appreciation and respect of the math science. Children are not born great mathematicians; they become one through constant practice, effective teaching methods, hard work, support, and encouragement.

Math Curriculum Our school uses Scotts Foresman Math Curriculum, which is adopted by the California Department of Education as it is aligned with the California Content Standards. The content standards are the norms created by Board of Education to ensure that the teachers teach proper skills and strategies, and the students learn them.

Math Curriculum Except the first grade book (10 chapters), each book contains 12 chapters covering all five domains. Each chapter is broken down into lessons (examples, guided practice, independent practice, diagnostic checkpoints, reteaching, more practice, reviews, and chapter tests). To be successful in math the students need to receive effective instructions (our curriculum), and have solid base provided at home setting (help, support, and encouragement).

How can parents help their children to advance in math? Show positive attitude toward math Give your child solid base starting from the early years of childs development (frequent opportunities to use math skills, games, include them in various activities requiring math skills) Ask your child about school, especially about math Help with homework – support and encourage (learn to listen and ask questions) insert learning cone Use available resources (internet, libraries, tutors, intervention programs, summer school)

Go online to the math sites and play the games with your kids, etc. If you dont have the Internet at home, you can go to the public library or our Schools Parent Center and sign up to use a computer with the Internet access for free. Online Resources

Parent Center has been created at our school to support you, the parents, in your efforts to assist your kids in achieving educational excellence and bridge the gap between home and school. We are going to empower, educate and equip you with the information and tools you need to become effective in helping your children both at home and at school.
