WORKSHOP 18 POST-PROCESSING THE HYBRID MICROCIRCUIT RESULTS WITH INSIGHT

WS18-2 PAT312, Workshop 18, December 2006 Copyright 2007 MSC.Software Corporation

WS18-3 PAT312, Workshop 18, December 2006 Copyright 2007 MSC.Software Corporation Objective: In this exercise you post-process the results of the hybrid microcircuit analysis using Insight tools. Model Description: In this exercise you will reopen the hybrid microcircuit database which now includes results data. You will use the Insight post-processing tools to enhance the presentation of the available results. Two isothermal surfaces will be generated which will provide a three dimensional view of the temperature field within the model. Also a series of planes will be created to expose the interior pattern of temperatures.

WS18-4 PAT312, Workshop 18, December 2006 Copyright 2007 MSC.Software Corporation Exercise Overview: 1. Open the existing database named microcircuit.db. 2. Use Viewing/Named View options… and Viewing/Transformations… to change to an X-Z view. 3. With Display/entity Color/Label/Render… change render style to hidden line and use Transformations… to readjust display to a better point of view for results. 4. Use Insight to create an Isosurface Tool with shich to view isothermal surfaces contained within the model. 5. Use Insight to create a second Isosurface which will define 5 display planes through the model on which fringe results will be displayed. 6. Quit MSC.Patran.

WS18-5 PAT312, Workshop 18, December 2006 Copyright 2007 MSC.Software Corporation Step 1: Open An Existing Database Open the existing database named microcircuit.db a. File: Open. b. Select the name microcircuit.db from the Database List box. c. Click OK. a b c

WS18-6 PAT312, Workshop 18, December 2006 Copyright 2007 MSC.Software Corporation Step 2: Change to an X-Z View Change the view to an X-Z view. a. Preference: Graphics… b. Click Auto Fit View. c. Click Apply, and Cancel. d. Viewing: Named View Options… e. Select default_view for Select Named View. f. Click Close. g. Viewing:Transformations… h. Click Options… i.
