IPM PDM ESCL Cluster SSB 1. User press SSB with valid FOB 2. IPM starts FOB searching and send ESCL power ON command to PDM 3. PDM supplies ESCL Bat and GND 4. IPM found valid FOB and checked ESCL locked state 5. IPM sends "Unlock" command to ESCL 6. ESCL operate Unlocking and send operation finished information to IPM. 7. IPM sends "ESCL power OFF and transit to Start" command to PDM 8. PDM turn ESCL bat and GND off, and then turn IGN1 relay on. After 50ms later, turn Starter relay on. Cranking!!! Engine Control Module (ECM) 9. Immobilizer communication between ECM and IPM via serial line 10. ECM sends Engine running information to IPM (C-CAN -> Cluster-> B-CAN -> IPM) 11. IPM send "transit to Running" command to PDM Engine is Running by just one SSB pressing!!! Simple explanation : One touch cranking

Phenomenon by problem in circuit 1 Problem casePhenomenon Body CAN BUS Hi & Lo line open or short to ground Impossibility of engine cranking rpm signal defect (PDM receive signal) P/Train CAN Normal + PDM rpm signal fail + CAN gate Cluster disconnected - Cranking is possible but Starter motor can be burned. - Engine is running, but IPM doesn't know it. So PDM keep Starter relay on state for 10s~25s depending on temperature. P/Train CAN abnormal + PDM rpm signal fail + CAN gate Cluster connected - Same with above P/Train CAN normal + PDM rpm signal fail + CAN gate Cluster connected Normal SSB switch signal 1 or 2 defected SSB signal 1 or 2 defected Change to fail safe mode : Cranking is possible with twice press start button. And, Press start again message display on cluster Both SSB signals are defectedCranking impossible Serial communication signal defected between ECM and IPM - Impassible Engine ON - 1 st cranking trial : Engine is Running and stop - After 2 nd cranking trial : Keep cranking for 10s~25s. Serial communication signal defected between RF receiver and IPM. Starting possible by FOB insert to FOB holder. If FOB is not in, IPM can not search Smart key, and (For 1 st trial, Key is not detected / more than 2 nd trial : "insert FOB in FOB holder" message display on cluster.

Problem casePhenomenon Serial communication defected between IPM and ESCL (IPM Pin No C05) Cranking is impossible in case of ESCL state is lock, Thus, Starting is available in state that unlock signal is inputted to PDM At this time, Check steering wheel lock massage display on cluster (set "ESCL failure" DTC) Unlock Switch signal defected between PDM and ESCL (Micro switch) - ESCL release checking is impossible by IPM and PDM. So any transition are not allowed. - At this time, Check steering wheel lock massage display on cluster - But only ESCL locking can be done. -(set "ESCL failure" DTC) Enable signal defected between IPM & ESCL (IPM B17 pin) -If ESCL is already Unlocked, then cranking is possible. But if user any door open/close or RKE lock or Passive lock or FOB remove from FOB holder, then Check steering wheel lock massage display on cluster -If ESCL is Locked, Check steering wheel lock massage display on cluster when user press SSB button. -(set "ESCL failure" DTC) PDM Vbat_Load fuse (25A) failed or PDM ESCL bat (A04) or ESCL GND (A05) Pin is defected. When user press SSB, Check steering wheel lock massage display on cluster. (set "ESCL failure" DTC) Not receive for brake switch signal Change to fail safe mode : Starting is available though press engine start button more than 10 seconds.
