Master Exercise Advanced Analysis of Landing Gear Assembly In this exercise you will use advanced EST analysis features in the context of the airplane landing gear assembly You will use Advanced Pre-Processing Options Multi Analysis Case Management Buckling Advanced Post Processing Options 120 min.

Design Intent: Advanced Analysis of Landing Gear Assembly Visualize Static Pre-Processing Elements on Mesh Insert Frequency Case sharing same Restraints Insert Buckling Case based on the Static Case Compute the three Cases and note the Smart Update Create Images and Customize Image Appearance Generate Advanced Reports

Design Process : Advanced Analysis of Landing Gear Assembly Starting from a static Analysis of the Assembly 1 Visualize Pre- Processing Elements on Mesh 2 Insert Frequency and Buckling Analyses 3 Customize Results Images and Generate Advanced Reports 4

Master Exercise Advanced Analysis of Landing Gear Assembly: Advanced Pre- Processing In this step you will visualize how the loads and restraints defined on the assembly are applied on the mesh 30 min.

Do It Yourself Visualize how the restraints defined on the assembly are translated onto the mesh Visualize how the loads defined on the assembly are applied on the mesh Load: CATESTLandingGear_2.CATAnalysis

Master Exercise Advanced Analysis of Landing Gear Assembly: Advanced Analysis Case Management In this step you will perform in the same analysis document : a static analysis case a frequency analysis case a buckling analysis case 30 min.

Do It Yourself Compute the Static Case Insert Frequency Case sharing the existing Static Analysis restraints (no mass equipment) Create deformations image of 3 rd dynamic mode, and animate Insert Buckling Case based on initial Static Case. Compute the first 3 buckling modes. Create deformations image of 3 rd buckling mode. Animate Save your Analysis Document Load: CATESTLandingGear_2.CATAnalysis

Master Exercise Advanced Analysis of Landing Gear Assembly: Advanced Post- Processing In this step you will customize the results visualization of your previous analyses and generate an advanced report 60 min.

Do It Yourself Create displacements images for both static and buckling analyses. You must use the AVERAGE-ISO visualisation mode with the smooth option activated. Check that the color axis corresponds to displacements norm and not one of the vector components. Generate an Advanced Report containing some of the available data. Load: Previous CATAnalysis Document

Fundamental Steps Advanced Pre-Processing Visualize restraints applied on the mesh. Visualize loads applied on the mesh. Advanced Analysis Case Management Compute a static analysis. Insert a frequency case. Insert a buckling case from a static solution. Compute a given number of modes. Create a deformations image from a given dynamic or buckling mode. Animate results. Advanced Post-Processing Use of the Average-Iso mode, and smooth option. Generate an advanced report.

15 min. Recap Exercise Hanger Buckling Analysis In this exercise you will perform a buckling analysis of the hanger part. You will use : Virtual Parts Buckling This part will be studied

Do It Yourself Start Static Analysis of the part. Apply the clamps and a 1000N force along the y axis with rigid transmission. Compute Static Case Solution. Insert Buckling Analysis based on previous Static Case. Compute. Create displacements image (AVERAGE-ISO visualisation with ISO smooth) of 5th buckling mode and animate. Force Clamps Load: CATEST_Hanger.CATPart

Additional Exercise Step (1): Door Fuselage Buckling Analysis In this exercise, you will learn how to do a Buckling Analysis on a fuselage. 30 min.

Design Intent: Door Fuselage Buckling Analysis Create Advanced restraints all around the fuselage. Fix all nodal degrees of freedom (dof) on right edges, let the X translation free on left edges and apply symmetry conditions on top and bottom edges to simulate the other side of fuselage. Apply a -1000N force in the x direction transmitted by line Force Density only left central edge. Compute the mesh and display the restraints and the loads on each node. Re compute all the structure and create a Deformed, Von Mises and Displacements images. Insert a buckling case with the static case solution. Display the sixth buckling mode for deformed and displacement images. Load: Door-Fus-Buckling.CATAnalysis

Additional Exercise Step (2): Pressure Contact between a Rod and an Axis In this exercise, you will learn how to visualize contact pressures. 20 min.

Design Intent: Pressure Contact between Rod and Axis Create a Contact Connection between Rod and Axis Rod. Apply Clamp restraint on inner surface Rod and axis edge. Apply a N force in the y direction on the rod eye outer surface. Compute all the structure and visualize Stress Von Mises. Compare Contact Pressures between Rod and Axis Rod and customise the visualization. Load: CATEST_Contact.CATProduct Constraints Contact Connection Force

Hints and Tips To modify pre-processing units you can use knowledgeware formula.
