Мысль о его создании возникла еще десятью годами раньше у нескольких членов Вестминстерского клуба собаководства. Они мечтали собрать большую коллекцию произведений искусства и книг, посвященных собакам, и устраивать по всей стране передвижные выставки, чтобы как можно больше людей узнали о роли собак в истории человечества
