The Olympic Games have a long and interesting history. Competitions of athletes took place in Greece. They were only for men. It was twenty eight centuries ago, in 776 B.C. The most important competitions in Olympia were named the Olympic Games.

The 22 nd Summer Olympic Games were held in Moscow in Many athletes, guests and journalists came to Moscow and it was the first time that the Olympic Games were held in our country. Our Russian sportsmen won 80 gold, 69 silver and 46 bronze medals during these Games.

Being children they went in for track – and – field athletics, demonstrated good results, took part in different All – Russian – competitions. They worked as teachers of Physical Education. Nowadays they are pensioners.

Our country woman is a prize – winner of Games in Athens (2004) The name of Olga Slusareva is well known in the whole world. It was the first time in the history of the Soviet-Russian cycle racing she had won the bronze Olympic medal. O. Slusareva remembers that her victory was won at a high price. We wish her good luck in sport and new records!

Know ours! A young football player from Uzlovaya took part in the first World Youth Olympiad (Moscow). Yugine Fyodorov has played football for 3 years. He is the best football player in his team Impuls. His trainer A.Olenik is proud of the talented sportsman. Yugine had trained a lot before he went to Youth Games. He says that Moscow contests made deep impression on him. On this slide you can see an article from local newspaper Znamya about unique visiting world competitions. Yugine Fyodorov was the only sportsman from Uzlovaya in Tula delegation. He wishes he would take part in the next Olympic Games.
