The National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution
History National Air Museum was formed on August 12, 1946 by an act of Congress. Some pieces in the National Air and Space Museum collection date back to the In 1952 it was placed in the Maryland-National Capital Park. Guided School Group Tours are held at the National Mall Building and at the Steven Udvar-Hazy Center. Tour duration is about one hour.
