Modeling the process of foreign sublexicon formation Tamara Dotsenko Yuliya Leshchenko Perm State Pedagogical University , Russia, Perm, Sibyrskaya,24
Introduction. Basic theoretical assumptions associative-verbal net (Karaulov) a means of access to the information thesaurus» (Zalevskaya) dynamic functional system, self-organizing through constant interaction between the process of refining and streamlining the speech experience and its products (Zalevskaya)
FOREIGN SUBLEXICON IS A NEW LANGUAGE FORMATION OF THE MENTAL LEXICON HAS A NET STRUCTURE IS CHARACTERIZED BY CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT STRIVES TO A STABLE STATE
The process of foreign sublexicon formation Intuitive perception of foreign material in the natural environment Conscious L2 learning in classroom environment
Stages of foreign sublexicon formation A) initial, relatively stable state - primary similarity with the system of L1 associative links; B) unstable state – similarity with the system of the associative links of two competing languages: L1 and L2; C) relatively stable state – primary similarity with the system of L2 associative links; D) final, stable state - full similarity of the system of foreign sublexicon associative links and the native speakers mental lexicon.
HYPOTHESIS OF THE RESEARCH THE PROCESS OF FOREIGN SUBLEXICON FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT (CHANGE OF ITS STAGES) IS DETERMINED BY NET NODES WITH THE INCOMING LINKS
NODES WITH THE INCOMINGLINKS ARE A POINT OF INTERSECTION OF THE ASSOCIATIVE FIELDS Fulfill the function of attractors – attract a number of associative fields (AF) Organize associative complexes (AK)
Methods of the research associative experiment modeling the fragments of foreign sublexicon quantitative analysis
1. Associative experiment Subjects: 1, 2, 3 year students of the economy and management faculties (50 persons in each group) Form of the experiment: written Period of carrying: end of I semester Stimuli: 43 frequent English words Language code: unrestricted Experimental material: 4286 verbal reactions
2. The fragment model of foreign sublexicon
NODE TYPES: EnglishRussian 1. According to language code:
2. According to number of links: BINOMIAL POLYNOMIAL
LINK TYPES: «OUTCOMING» (DIRECT)«INCOMING» (REVERSE) 1. ACCORDING TO DIRECTION
2. ACCORDING TO STRENGTH (frequency) «STRONG» «WEAK»
3. ACCORDING TO QUALITY «FORMAL» «SEMANTIC»
3.QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF NODES WITH INCOMING LINKS The number of incoming links in the space of foreign sublexicon The number of nodes with incoming links The weight of nodes with incoming links
RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH

SCOPE OF THE SUBLEXICON: 36 NODES; 81 «INCOMING» LINKS LINKS: unidirectional only strong, weak and single (1:4:5) formal and semantic (1:4)
STAGE A NODES: Russian only 2, 3, 4-membered (10:1:1) WEIGHT OF NODES: from 1.8 to 83.2
STAGE A NODES WITH A LARGE WEIGHT: КРАСИВЫЙ , ДЕВУШКА , ОН 74.4, СЫН , СЧАСТЛИВЫЙ ,СОН , ХОРОШИЙ TOPOLOGICAL ROW : КРАСИВЫЙ, ПРЕКРАСНЫЙ,ХОРОШИЙ, СЧАСТЛИВЫЙ
STAGE B сын сон солнце son soon father daughter mother несколько только вскоре door too always сын сон son
STAGE B телефон call tell telephone звонок звонить speak говорить say высокий me коала speaking do fax холодный
STAGE B SCOPE OF THE SUBLEXICON: 20 nodes; 45 links (44 «incoming» and 1 «outcoming») LINKS: unidirectional, bidirectional (single); strong (translation), weak, single (1:4:5) formal and semantic (1:4)
STAGE B NODES: Russian and English: идти – go, telephone –телефон 2 and 3-membered (10:1) WEIGHT OF NODES: from 1.8 to 76.3
STAGE B NODES WITH A LARGE WEIGHT: утро 76.3, сын 56.1, сон 52.7, звонок 52.7 TOPOLOGICAL ROWS: soon-сон-son-сын-soon; телефон –звонок – speak - звонить - telephone
STAGE C girl boy friend мальчик девушка красивый beautiful девочка man bad clever car надежный друг my mother best nice милый day good funny face flower summer schoolgirl boyfriend friendship ugly enemy good little tall kind
STAGE C SCOPE OF THE SUBLEXICON: 18nodes; 56 links(50 «incoming», 6 (10%) 19«outcoming») LINKS: unidirectional (girl-beautiful, beautiful – красивый) and bidirectional of equal strength (girl-boy; boy-friend; friend-girl) semantic only strong, weak and single (1:4:5)
STAGE C NODES: English and Russian 2,3 and 4-membered (3:2:2) WEIGHT OF NODES: from 1.8 to 97.3 NODES WITH A LARGE WEIGHT: day 97.3, girl 92.8, me 61.5 TOPOLOGICAL ROWS: девушка-girl - friend-boy- мальчик
CONCLUSIONS The direction of foreign sublexicon formation is determined by: 1. number of links with unidirectional incoming and bidirectional outcoming-incoming links; 2. number of links and their strength; 3. weight of a node; 4.language code and linguistic features of a word- node.
