Future Perfect and Future Perfect Continuous Future Continuous Tense

Choose the correct form of the verb By the time he arrives in London John will drive/ will have driven/ will have been driving/ will be driving for five hours.

Future Perfect Continuous Future Perfect Continuous Have been driving

K e y By the time he arrives in London John will have been driving for five hours.

We use the Future Perfect Continuous to show that action is in progress up to a point in the future. By the year 2012 we will have been doing our shopping with digital money for about two years.

Future Perfect Simple We use the Future Perfect Simple to show that something is completed at some time between now and a point in the future We will have stopped using notes and coins by the year 2010.

Future Continuous We use the Future Continuous to talk about an action in progress at point in future or habits or repeated actions at a point in the future. This time next week we will be visiting laboratory again. In a hundred years time well all be flying around in flying cars.
