An Ideal Welfare State. Categories of people. Welfare state Medical Care in a Welfare State. Life of Elderly People. An introduction to Social Policy My opinion about a welfare state.

Categories of people. There are a lot of categories of people: the widowed, the retired, the unemployed, the disabled people, the elderly, the sick, the single parents. Benefits for different categories of people: The widowed can claim widows pension. The retired can get retirement pension. The sick are entitled to social Benefits. The unemployed are provided with unemployment benefits.

Welfare state Political system under which the state (rather than the individual or the private sector) has responsibility for the welfare of its citizens, providing a guaranteed minimum standard of life, and insurance against the hazards of poverty, illness, and social deprivation. Welfare services include social security, which makes provision against interruption of earnings through sickness, injury, old age, or unemployment. They take the forms of unemployment and sickness benefits, family allowances, and income supplements, provided and typically financed through state insurance schemes.

The services also include health and education, financed typically through taxation, and the provision of subsidized social housing. Subsidized public transport, leisure facilities, and public libraries, with special discounts for the elderly, unemployed, and diThe phrase welfare state was first used by Alfred Zimmern in the late 1930s, to distinguish between the policies of the democracies and the war state of Europe's dictators. Elements of a welfare system began to be constructed in parts of Western Europe from the late 19th century, with Germany taking the lead in 1883 with a compulsory national accident and sickness insurance law, introduced by Chancellor Otto von Bismark and financed by a state subsidy.sabled, are other noncore elements of a welfare state.

New Zealand introduced pensions in 1898, while Austria-Hungary (late 19th century), Norway (1909), Sweden (1910), Italy, UK, and Russia (1911), introduced national health insurance. The USA followed later, with the Social Security Act of The developments came in response to political and social pressures, including the extension of voting rights. They provided minimum standards, but not to all groups in society. It was not until the early 1940s, with the UK taking the lead, that a comprehensive welfare state, covering all its elements and available to all, was established.

Medical Care in a Welfare State. First, medical insurance is organized by the Government and is compulsory. Second, despite the shortage of money, the system of medical care works well. Third, there are two sectors of medical care. There is a private sector and a public sector. And medical care is available to the poor and to the rich.

Life of Elderly People. There are a lot of good points. First, the elderly do not have to go to work. Second, they have adult children, who are not a burden any more. Third, they have a lot of time to meet with friends, read, travel go in for sports, work in them garden. And the elderly get wiser, have mo experience and the ability to help with advice. First, elderly people become a burden to children. Second, they suffer the fear of dearth. Third, elderly people lose friend and spouses.

The idea of the welfare statemeans differt things in different countries. An ideal model. The "welfare state" usually refers to an ideal model of provision, where the state accepts responsibility for the provision of comprehensive and universal welfare for its citizens. State welfare. Some commentators use it to mean "welfare provided by the state". This is the main use in the USA. Social protection. In many "welfare states", social protection is not delivered by the state at all, but by a combination of independent, voluntary and government services. These countries are still usually thought of as "welfare states".

This section of the website is mainly concerned with the provision of welfare in different countries. If you would like to read more on the idea of the "welfare state", including arguments for and against welfare provision, you should begin with the section on social policy. If you have just come to the site and want to know what is on it, you might like to begin with the site's contents. The concept of the welfare state remains controxersial, and there is continuing debate over governments responsibility for their citizens welfare. Here,it is crucial to clarify what exactly one means by welfare state.A welfare state is not a state run economy.

The welfare state refers to government provision of certain pablic services(such as health care, education or social security)to all citizens irrespective of their personal wealth. It also refers to government provision of money or other financial assistance-often temporary or conditional-to those legally unable to provide to themselves because of health problems, unemployment, mental diseases,or a major natural disaster or terrorist attack

There are three main interpretations of the idea of a welfare state: The provision of welfare services by the state. An ideal model in which the state assumes primary responsibility for the welfare of its citizens. This responsibility in theory ought to be comprehensive, because all aspects of welfare are considered and universally applied to citizens as a right.Welfare statecan also mean the creation of a safety netof minimum standards of varying forms of welfare. Here is found some confusion between a welfare stateand a welfare societyin common debate about the definition of the term.

The provision of welfare in society. In many welfare states, especially in continental Europe, welfare is not actually provided by the state, but a combination of independent, voluntary, mutualist and government services. The functional provider of benefits and services may be a central or state government, a state- sponsored company or agency, a private corporation, a charity or another from of non-profit organisation. However,This phenomenon has been more appropriately termed a welfare society, and the term welfare system has been used to describe the range of welfare state and welfare society mixes that are fond.

My opinion about a welfare state. In the welfare state, most benefits are available to everybody who is entitled to them and it's very good. In the welfare slate, nobody is allowed to live in poverty. Everybody is to have proper health care and education regardless of their income. The welfare state helps the disabled, people who are unable to work to earn money on their own.
