There are no other requirements from state to state; they all go under one rule. On the other hand, in US besides Primary National Standards of drinking water, there is Secondary National Standards too. The second one has an advising character and they point in a direction that scientists must get to have good clear water. They also have different requirements and rules from one state to another.
