My favourite city

Voronezh is is situated on the banks of the Voronezh Sea and is divided into two parts: the right bank and the left bank.

The climate here is mild and humid. It has a green area both inside the city and around it.

There are three big rivers in Voronezh region: the Usmanka, the Don and the Voronezh. We can enjoy the picturesque surroundings and pure waters of them throughout the summer.

There is no need going to the Black Sea for having a rest as we can relax and have a good time at home.

Voronezh was founded in And at that time it was a fortress on the banks of the Voronezh River. It defended the Russian land from Normans in the south.

In the 17th century Peter the Great chose Voronezh to be the cradle of the Russian National Fleet. There is a monument to him in Petrovsky Garden.

During the World War II Voronezh rose up on the way of the fascicts. There were fierce fightings here. Voronezh was destroyed. It repulsed the attacks of foreign invaders for 212 days and nights and on the 25th of January it was liberated.

Among the defenders of Voronezh was a 16-year old boy K.Feoktistov who later became the first scientist in space.

In memory of that War there stands the frame of the ruined rotunda, a round building of the former regional hospital.

In Voronezh there are many War monuments, the whole day is not enough to visit all of them.

Revolution avenue. is the most beautiful street in my city. You can see a lot of old and modern buildings in it.

All children like to visit the Puppet theatre Shut, it looks like a tower with unusual lanterns and sculptures of fairy-tale characters on the roof.

I n front of the theatre there is a statue of the well- known dog White Bim with Black Ear, people enjoy be photographed near it.

If you go straight ahead you come across the University library and the monument to A. Platonov, one of the Russian writers.

In this avenue you can also find the monument to I. Nikitin near the cinemaProletary.

Voronezh is a city of science and education, it is a city of students.

There are many theatres, cinemas, libraries and concert halls in our city,several museums and picture galleries.

You can see the Opera and the Ballet Theatre, the Kramskoy's Fine Arts Museum, the Library after Nikitin

Our plane plant is well- known all over the world.

Voronezh land is proud of Koltsov's verses, Nikitin's poetry, Kramskoy's paintings, fairy-tales collected by A. Afanasyev, folk songs gathered by M.Pyatnitsky.

My favourite places in Voronezh are Koltsov Square and the Circus.

My city is a beautiful city with rich history.

It will take you about 8 hours to get to Voronezh by train or by a comfortable double-decker bus from Moscow or you can choose a plane, the fastest way of travelling.
