3 Family He was born into the aristocratic family of the Dukes Malborough. His father was a politician. His mother was from America, the daughter of the owner the New York Times.
4 School Churchill hated school. He was the worst student at school. He often was beaten by teachers for his bad knowledge. But he had a good memory and learnt only the things he liked.
5 Military Career His father decided to send him to the British Royal Military College. Churchill enjoyed a career in the British army at a zenith of British military power. He served in the Indian northwest frontier and the Sudan. While in the army, he wrote military reports for newspapers.
6 Journalist Career In 1899, Churchill left the army and worked as a war correspondent for the Morning Post, a conservative daily newspaper. Soon he became one of the best journalists.
7 Political Career In 1900, Churchill became a Member of Parliament in the Conservative Party.On May,1940 when Britain declared war on Germany King George VI appointed Churchill as prime minister and Minister of Defense.
8 Great Wartime Leader Churchill formed a coalition cabinet of leaders from the Labor, Liberal and Conservative parties. Churchill kept resistance to Nazi Germany, and created the foundation for an alliance with the United States and the Soviet Union. He ruled the country until the victory over fascism.
9 Great Speaker In childhood Churchill stammered and had defects of speech, but due to the lessons with speech therapist and his strong character he became one of the best speaker. 10 Churchill as a writer Churchill has written about 40 books on history of Britain, about the war. In 1953 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for historical and biographical descriptions.
12 Churchill as an artist Churchill liked painting in his free time. He has painted more than 600 pictures. He had some exhibitions under the nickname Sharl Morren and people liked his pictures.
13 Love to animals Churchill had always a lot of pets. He adored horses, cats, birds and especially his puddle Ruffle. His favorite parrot has lived for 104 years. And even after Churchills death he shouted antifascist slogans.
14 Habits Churchill has smoked 15 Havana cigars a day. He didnt stop smoking and drinking until his death at the age of 90. When he was asked about his secret of long live he joked : Eat and drink everything you like ! And no any sport !
15 Churchills passion Winston Churchill liked Armenian Cognac DVIN and everyday he drank a bottle of it. One day Churchill found that DVIN was different from the one he usually drank. He told about it to Stalin. It happened that a person who made this cognac was sent to Siberia. Stalin had to return him from exile and later he was awarded with the title of the Hero of the Soviet Labour.
16 Family Man Churchill married to Clementine Hosier in Their marriage lasted for 56 years. They had one son and four daughters. But the children were not so successful as their father. His son and elder daughter became alcoholics. One daughter committed a suicide. The younger daughter died of meningitis at the age of two.
17 House In this house Churchill has lived for forty years. He bought it after his daughter Mary was born. His last days he spent in this house, surrounded by grandchildren and secretaries.
18 Last days and death Churchill retired as prime minister in He remained a Member of Parliament until the general election of 1964 and had an active political life. 19 Sir Winston Leonard Spencer- Churchill (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965) It goes without any doubts, that British politician, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1955, the greatest wartime leader of the 20th century, a historian, a writer, an artist, laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature played very important role in the history of his country and the whole mankind.
20 Memory In honor of this Great Man there are a lot of monuments, museums, books, films. He is still considered the greatest politician of Great Britain and the whole world.
